Nota d'usoFrasi come I don't know nobody here, qui non conosco nessuno; He ain't (o isn't) doing nothing, non sta facendo niente, benché molto diffuse nella lingua popolare e nei dialetti, sono grammaticalmente scorrette. In una frase di significato negativo deve infatti comparire una sola negazione: I know nobody here (o I don't know anybody here); He's doing nothing (o He isn't doing anything).Nell'inglese standard una seconda negazione è possibile solo per annullare la prima, cioè per dare alla frase un significato positivo: a differenza dell'italiano, due negazioni affermano (ma si tratta comunque di una costruzione poco frequente): Nobody never makes mistakes, nessuno è esente da errori; tutti fanno errori; I'm not doing nothing!, non è vero che non sto facendo niente! -
